We may modify this Policy at any time, and if we do, we’ll publish it on this website.
We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles contained within that Act and credit reporting laws. The Services we provide include comparison services in relation to Home Loans, Personal Loans, Car Loans, Novated Leases, Car Insurance, Home & Contents Insurance, Health Insurance, Electricity & Gas plans, Travel Insurance, Life and Income Protection Insurance, Business Insurance, and Business Loans. The services we offer may change from time to time.
Type of Personal Information we collect and hold
We seek at all times to ensure we only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to support our functions and activities. If we cannot collect the information we need about you, we may not be able to supply the service you want.
Depending on your interaction with us, the information that we collect and hold may include (but not limited to):
- Personal details like name, date of birth, gender, and occupation
- Contact details like physical, postal, work and email addresses and phone numbers
- Financial details like income and expenditure, credit score and rating, insurance history, employment information, marital status, proof of identification information, bank account details, details regarding your financial circumstances and future requirements, any loans that you have outstanding, your repayment history, opened and closed dates and any defaults, details about your property values, details about the risk you want to insure, and other financial details
- Government-issued identifiers like driver’s licence, passport details, Medicare number
- Service-related details like your username, encrypted password and service usage history, incidents, enquiries and complaints other details relating to special situations
- Behavioral & online data like browsing history, product preferences, IP address, device information
- Currently, we may collect information about your trade or profession, your health fund memberships, and certain other health information, in order to provide our service for certain products.
- If you wish to compare certain products (such as health insurance or life insurance), we may also, where necessary, collect sensitive information from you. Sensitive information includes any information about your health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinion, membership of a political association, religious beliefs or affiliations, philosophical beliefs, membership of a professional or trade association, membership of a trade union, sexual preferences or practices, criminal record or health information.
- In some cases we may collect information that is usually non-personally identifiable (such as location data, data about personal attributes or online identifiers) but that, taken together with other collected data, may identify you, either directly or indirectly.
Collecting Personal Information
Unless it is not reasonable or practicable to do so, and in other cases allowed by law, we will collect personal information about you directly from you e.g. when you contact us by phone or online.
In other cases, we may collect personal information about you from:

- Other companies in our group that you may have dealt with
- Third parties like our business partners, and your authorised representative/s
- Information brokers
- Credit and fraud checking agencies
- Our websites and how you use them
- Our social media, including communicating with us via social media platforms

- Entering promotions or competitions, depending on the entry requirements;
- Submitting an enquiry or complaint, provide feedback or make a customer service request
- Participating in surveys, market research or audience testing
In rare circumstances we may collect personal information from people who are under the age of 18. If we do this, we may also collect personal information about the parent or guardian of that person.
While we undertake reasonable steps to protect your personal information, no guarantee can be given that information sent over the internet is always 100% secure. Sending and receiving information over the internet is at the user's own risk, however we will take all reasonable steps to ensure your data security once we receive it.
Why we collect and hold Personal Information
We generally collect and hold personal information to:
- Allow the provision and operation of our services / business i.e. if we cannot collect the information we need about you, we may not be able to supply the service we offer.
- Provide you with customer support, including dealing with complaints and enquiries
- Send you summaries of your quote and comparison results
- Act as agent for a credit provider
- To support a guarantor application you will provide
- Provide you with credit score and credit report information
- Improve and maintain our website and call centres and the services we offer, including personalising and customising your online experience
- Promote products and services from us, our agents, dealers, members of our corporate group, and business partners including direct marketing.
- Develop new products and services
- Administer competitions and promotions
- Send special offers or reminders
- Seek your opinions and feedback
- Provide it to other parties in connection with our business
- Prevent abuse and fraud
- Allow improved analysis and statistics, both directly and in conjunction with other information
- Comply with the law, including the Data Retention Law
Holding Personal Information
We hold personal information in hard and/or soft copy at our offices and in other facilities that we own or license from third parties, like data centres. We take reasonable steps to keep it secure and to protect it from unauthorised access, use or alteration. Where reasonably possible, we will destroy or de-identify your information if it is no longer required for the purpose for which it was collected or any related purpose (subject to any relevant record keeping obligations under Australian law).
We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. Specific retention periods vary based on the type of information and applicable regulations.
Disclosing Personal Information
We do not sell, license or otherwise disclose your Personal Information to third parties unless such disclosure is for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.
We may disclose personal information as reasonably required to entities, including but not limited to:
- Participating partners and wholesale suppliers to enable suppliers to provide products and services to you
- Affiliated product and service providers and external product and service providers for whom we act as agent (so that they may provide you with the product or service you seek or in which you have expressed an interest)
- Credit reporting bodies (CRBs) to obtain a credit report from them as an ‘access seeker.’ As an ‘access seeker’ our enquiry will not appear on your report or impact your credit score. We may use any information the CRB provides in that report to assist us to preliminarily assess your consumer credit application and disclose your credit information to a credit provider(s) if you decide to apply for finance.
- Credit Providers as part of providing our services to you, we may undertake tasks for a credit provider which are reasonably necessary to manage the application process. When doing so, we are acting as agent for the credit provider, with the same privacy law requirements applying to both of us. We may submit your application to one or more credit providers. Those credit providers and their website addresses are set out below. A credit provider, to whom we submit an application, may disclose information about you to, and collect information about you from, from one or more CRBs. The website of each credit provider contains details of how they collect, disclose and use your information, your key rights, and each CRB they deal with. This detail may be described on the credit providers’ websites as ‘notifiable matters’, ‘privacy policy’, ‘credit reporting policy’ or ‘privacy disclosure statement and consent’.
- Other organisations who in conjunction with us provide products and services (so that they may provide their products and services to you) for example market research, sales and marketing (including direct marketing), identity and fraud checking, providing credit scores and information, helpdesk enquiries and complaint management, communications and mailing, billing, debt recovery and credit management
- Providers of corporate strategy, accounting, audit, legal, regulatory and compliance advice
- To your authorised representative/s if you ask us to do so
- To members of our corporate group
- To partners, organisations or persons who invest in or acquire all or part of our business or company, or are considering doing so
We may use electronic communications, such that: Paper-based documents may no longer be given; Electronic communications must be regularly checked for documents; Consent to the giving of documents by electronic communication may be withdrawn at any time; We may provide any or all information to you through electronic communication in accordance with the Electronic Transaction Act 1999 and the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009; and We may act on instructions you send us electronically, including but not limited to emails to the email address provided by us on our websites, or any other method of electronic communication permitted by law.
Where we engage with overseas entities for the provision of third party services, these providers have Australian based servers which ensure that Personal Information is retained onshore. In a small number of cases, we hold Personal Information in data storage and cloud computing facilities operated by us (or by third parties for us) that may be in overseas locations.
Please note that some of our participating suppliers may operate call centres that are based overseas, and so if you enquire about a product with them, you may call or be called by one of those call centres. If you provide information to a participating supplier, the collection, storage and use of that information will be managed by the participating supplier and subject to their privacy policy.
Consent
By using our website, call centre and services, you consent to:
- The collection of data by our ad servers or third party affiliates, or the transfer of information to them, wherever necessary, for optimisation and enhancement of our website and services and to tailor the content and advertising that is delivered to you; and
- Receiving communications from us, our agents, dealers, members of our corporate group, and business partners via email, SMS, post, social media, targeted web content and other direct marketing methods. If you provide us with false details, we may be unable to provide you with the requested information or your quote summary, and personal information may be accessible to a third party. To safeguard personal information that may be accessible from communications from us, we recommend that you only provide us with contact details over which you maintain access and control.
If you win a competition that we (or our agents) run, we may also seek your consent to use your name, image (e.g. photograph) and/or voice recordings for the purpose of promoting or marketing the competition and/or our services.
If you provide us with information about another person, you must have that person’s consent before you provide the information to us. You must also tell the person we have collected their personal information; the person is entitled to access the information we hold; and he or she should refer to this document to understand how we manage their personal information.

Recording of Verbal Communication
By agreeing to our privacy policy you are agreeing that all verbal communications may be recorded for quality and training purposes. If you wish to not be recorded please notify us when you speak to one of our consultants.
Opting Out
You will continue to receive direct marketing communications until you choose to opt out.
Whenever we communicate with you for direct marketing purposes, we will give you the opportunity to opt out of receiving further direct marketing communications from us by following the "unsubscribe" instructions included in any email or electronic message, even if you are no longer a customer.
You may opt out of receiving direct marketing communications from us at any time by contacting us at support@money.com.au.
If we use your personal information to facilitate direct marketing by other organisations on behalf of other organisations, you can ask us to provide the source of the information by contacting us at support@money.com.au.
Accessing and correcting Personal Information
Please contact us for these purposes using the details in Contacting us below. We shall process and respond to your request in accordance with Australian Privacy Principle 12. There is no charge for making a request but a reasonable administrative charge, on a cost recovery basis, may be payable before we agree to provide access.
You can gain access to the information we hold about you by contacting our Privacy Officer at the address above or email at team@money.com.au. In some cases, an administration fee may be charged to cover the cost of providing the information.
You have the right to ask:
- Us to provide you with all the information we hold about you
- Us to correct the information we hold if it is incorrect
- Us for copies of our privacy policy and this document, in a form that suits you (e.g. hard copy or email)
- Credit reporting bodies to provide you with a copy of the information it holds about you and for them not to use your information for direct marketing assessment purposes, including pre-screening
You have the right to directly request a CRB to correct that credit information, or contact a CRB to advise them that you believe that you may have been a victim of fraud. For 21 days after the CRB receives your notification, the CRB must not use or disclose that credit information. Complaints
If you wish to complain about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact us using the details in Contacting us below. We shall:
- Acknowledge your complaint within a reasonable time
- Give you an estimated first response time
- Allocate your complaint to a suitably senior staff member
- Process and respond to your complaint as soon as we reasonably can.
